Functional Applications

An arrangement of the functional components supporting the Process Integration for Problem Solving (PIPS) is illustrated. The process integrator is a front end that provides an intuitive human computer interface for four areas:

Compliance Tracking & Actioning, Routine Maintenance, Planned Non Routine Maintenance and Line Event Handling.

PIPS provides the interface to the ERP and /or existing legacy systems. The ERP interface is XML based or IBM MQ series based middle ware.

PIPS also integrates the hosted front end functions. The interfacing approach is a shared database based on Oracle technology.

PIPS technology is J2EE based.

Information Interchange Manager

provides the functions for receiving structured and Multi Media Information from external sources and routing them to appropriate Role-Actor pairs for action.

Content Repository Manager   CRM provides the Oracle based Relational-Object repository, that associates content from external sources with content generated from internal processes. The CRM is the repository that allows compliance tracking and also provides incident based lock/retrace capability

Short term Schedule Manager   SSM provides the dynamic schedule generation capabilities for a time window of 24 to 72 hours at a granularity level of a licensed engineer and/or crew of technicians.

Event Structuring Manager   ESM provides the ability to create an aggregation structure for jobs, checks, works program based on the user configurable unit of work designated as planning item. ESM treats hangar visits, line actions as events.

Asset Configuration Manager   ACM provides a traceable view of as built/ delivered and as operated configurations.

Compliance Action Manager   CAM provides the functions to produce the consolidated input to the ESM and produce exception reporting to the shop floor management in a time window of 8 hours before the event (the event is an aircraft visit to the hangar).

Enterprise Resource Planning   ERP provides the functions at an enterprise level for medium term/long term resource planning, operations management
